Dreamworks — Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous

A boatload of talented folks worked on this show, and it was an honor to work and learn from everyone! Jurassic was a show in constant iteration, each time pushing it farther and re-sculpting something better. That said, our process included regular rewrites. Within our limited TV production schedules, these rewrites would then come to our Episode Director Eric Elrod and us Revisionists to re-board — most of the time from scratch.

The samples featured here are sequences where I got the incredible opportunity to do just that — board from scratch!

ACTION BOARDS — (5.12 | “The Nublar Six”)

Save the girl!

In this episode, Brooklyn’s still deciding how she feels about her boyfriend Kenji’s return. What started out as a scene on the chopping block, turned into an opportunity to advance a relationship on the mend. To address some rewrites that were meant to simply remove a side-character from this scene, I also got to add a little moment for Kenji and Brooklyn to reconnect through his little act of heroism.

This show tapped into a lot of horror and thriller filmmaking. Our episode director Eric Elrod wanted to bring some extra creepiness to the Pteranodon’s movement, so I studied vampire bat walk cycles to give this winged dino that uncanny crawl across the tunnel walls!
