HANDS: Design & Animation

These animation vignettes were created for Zach Madden and Mikayel Nguyen's short film HANDS., a story about a woman's life told through her boisterous mitts.

We wanted the style of the animation to reflect the energetic, imaginative, and hand-made feel of the rest of the film.  With some visual trickery, I achieved our final hand-drawn look all digitally: animated in Photoshop, post processing in After Effects.

HANDS. premiered at the Ace Theater in downtown LA - LAST NIGHT WAS A MOVIE, presented by Bang&Olufsen and SEEYOUSOON, on June 3, 2018.  Watch the full short online: https://vimeo.com/272433506 (or below!)

TULIP HILL End Credits: Illustration, Motion Design

These 2D motion illustrations were created as the end credits for a 2016 short film called Tulip Hill, in which (spoiler alert) a 10 year old girl commits gruesome revenge-murders while sleepwalking. If you look closely enough at the drawing before she disappears, you'll notice that her eyes start to move in your direction. Maybe she wasn't so deeply asleep after all...

Fun fact: The hand-made FX were created with black posterboard, sugar, and a hairdryer :) Illustrated in Photoshop. Animation & FX in After Effects.
